Overall I'm not satisfied. After hours on the phone MULTIPLE times with Ooma customer service I was given a final answer. Problems I've encountered: 1) Porting my number took triple the time they said it would. Customer service can't give me an answer for why this is happening.4) Call sound quality. Customer support is very hard to reach and when you do get someone they are very hard to communicate with (broken English and accent). Customer Service rarely follows through with what they say.especially when they say they will call you back. I have owned my Ooma phone system for a little over a year now. Since this is the only number that cannot be receive phone call from, it is obviously not our issue.Thank you very much.-Ooma Support"3) Wrong number being displayed on caller ID for all outgoing calls.
I have configured the device with the correct Quality of service settings and I have a decent upload speed of 1.5 Mb/s.This technology has the ability to do amazing things but it just isn't ready for prime time. It came in the form of a simple and rude email stating:"Dear.,I have looked over your case, and it is a routing issue with number 0000000000's carrier. If you are not super tech savvy or don't have loads of time to trouble shoot the device then I'd suggest pass for now. 2) Certain trunk land line numbers have trouble getting through. It has been one headache after another. I can hear people ok but people have trouble hearing me.
I wasn't able to receive calls from land line numbers for over a week during that process. The hospital I work for sometimes can but usually can't get through. Usually they complain that my speech sounds broken. I wouldn't buy the device again at this point.
If the scout had a voice microphone I would have used it as in intercom. Why Qwest charge me 32 bucks a month is outrageous now that I have this. It took a couple of minutes, but it did it. It would have taken 2-4 weeks. I do not use the scout that came with the core, I would have to split the phone line with the internet and have another phone. I actually placed the Hub after my wireless router. After the initial cost Ooma is basically free for life, as long as the company stay in business or is bought by someone else.I had no problem setting up the free lan line.
I am not giving this priority over my computers and PS3. After you register online the blue light will start to turn on. If Ooma was more popular than the entire phone companies would be out of business or barely hanging on. Ooma lounge is super cool and I can see the in and out bound calls not months later on my phone bill. I did not port my old phone number over for 40 bucks. Most people have my cell number anyways and only telemarketers and non-profit organizations call my lan line anyways. Telo is cooler and newer, but just not free for life. Get the Ooma Hub before it is all gone and the Telo becomes the only option you can get.
The cost per long distance is tiny, but the tax fees and other things Qwest made up is a joke. I actually bought the Ooma Telo first with the cool phone, but I found out it had a yearly government fee; so I returned it for the hub, which is free for life as right now.I am considering getting this for my parents and family members because it actually works. I now have free caller ID and call my parents said the voice was sharp and clear on the other end. I like the idea you can check your answering machine anywhere with an internet connection, just login to Ooma Lounge. I don't have to keep my computer on like magic jack. Got my bad boy at Frys for 180.
My land line is disconnected and I now don't get $105.00 per month bill for less than Ooma delivers. My Ooma Core and 2 Scouts are the most fantastic phone service I could imagine. I will never go back to the land line. Read the manual, go to the Ooma Web site, do a little planning, follow directions and all will be well with Ooma. My number porting went smooth as silk, my magic second line has already paid for itself, and with the Premier package voicemail, call screening, ability to look at all settings and call logs PLUS listen to messages on the computer is beyond belief. Also, sound quality is far better than any phone I have ever used. My state of the art business phones sound so good now people have ask me what I'm using.
I was so excited about buying the Ooma in December 2009 and when I set up the Ooma to my surprise there were NO numbers for Oahu. The Customer Support gave me a temporary number on another island where if I have people on Oahu call me it is a toll charge. I have been calling ooma customer support about three times a month asking when they are going to have more numbers for Oahu and they kept telling me keep looking online we are adding more next week.I called today and they said I have to pay for a Oahu number it is "only" $30. They really should have let me know this when I called two months ago, I think Hawaii residents need to know this information.
Do you know why you haven't heard of this. That is because it sells itself. That is; no advertising needed. WOW is all I can say.
